Teen Contemporary Jazz

Ages: 12+ Requirement: jazz shoes, soft dance clothes (close-fitting) or leotard & tights The emerging dominant dance style of our era… Contemporary dance is an expressive form that combines techniques This class will have a technical focus on jazz dance. Music and movement will consist of both historical Vaudeville theatre jazz, and contemporary jazz styles (soul, pop, etc.). Students learn Intermediate/Advanced contemporary jazz dance terminology, steps, technique, combinations and choreography. Solo and group improvisations and movement exploration, mirroring, trust exercises, as well as beginner lift and contact improvisation. Dance Recital: May 17-19. Dress Rehearsal: May 15.
