Jr. Irish Dance
Tuesday, 04/23/2024 | 06:30PM-07:25PM
Ms. Nancy Main Hall
Ages: 8+
Requirement: Participants wear t-shirts, shorts and light shoes (Irish ghillies/pumps), or black ballet slippers. “Poodle” socks are recommended to keep calves and ankles warm. Girls with very slender lower legs may want to use special Irish sock glue, available online, to keep socks from slipping down. Boys may wear Irish reel shoes.
Beginning Irish step dance classes focus on posture, strength, rhythm lightness, footwork, and jumps. The emphasis is on the lower body, with arms held at the sides. Basic jigs and reels will build confidence and a sense of accomplishment with each step learned. Fun, lively traditional and modern Irish tunes accompany each class.
Dance Recital: May 17-19. Dress Rehearsal: May 15.
