AfroCaribbean (Adult/Teen) Summer 2019

This class is based in the technique of Katherine Dunham, an early modern dancer who has been called “the queen of black dance.” Bringing together African, Caribbean ritual, social dance and concert dance, this technique focuses on developing strength, flexibility, and the ability to fully and rapidly undulate the torso. Through the magical sounds of the drums and the fusion of dance, rhythm, and song, the class creates a dance community that nurtures, heals, renews, and inspires body and spirit.
