BDC Faculty Studio A
This year we are excited to offer a class that will teach both Jazz Technique and Contemporary Technique. Jazz is a dance form that developed from the rhythms and techniques of jazz music, developed by American blacks in the early part of the 20th century. Contemporary is a term that encompasses a broad range of dance forms, but often focuses on momentum based movement that moves in and out of the floor and includes partnering, improvisation, and expressive dance.
Jazz/Contemporary V + VI is a class designed for students in Level V and students in Level VI. Students at these levels must take three classes a week (2 ballet + 1 modern) and can elect to also take Jazz/Contemporary and Composition. Students who are new to BDC should contact [email protected] to discuss proper placement.
Required classroom attire for Jazz is a black leotard with black tights or a black t-shirt with black athletic pants with jazz shoes. Dancers will share what they have learned at the end of the year performance June 25-29, 2019.
