Modern Dance started in the early 20th Century in America and Europe as a rebellion against classical ballet. This form of dance is done barefoot and often includes a more dynamic use of the torso (compared to classical ballet), and movements that roll and glide along the floor.
Modern I/II is a class designed for students 2nd grade and older and is a great class for students new to dance. Required classroom attire is a black long sleeved leotard with black tights, or a black t-shirt with black athletic pants, with long hair pulled back in a clean, high ponytail. Students at Level I/II can choose to take one class (ballet or modern) or two classes a week (ballet + modern) as preparation for advancing to Level 3 (three classes a week).
Students will share what they have learned at the end of the year performance June 25-29, 2019.
