Young dancers will study the fundamentals of classical ballet technique. They will learn and practice the 5 positions of the feet and arms, a dancer’s correct posture, finger positions, pliés, tendus, chassés, early jumps, basic coordinations and musical phrasing. Children will learn the names of the great composers and they’ll learn the stories of the great classical ballets (Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Swan Lake etc). Using their ballet vocabulary, they will act out scenes from the ballets while listening to the original orchestrated music.
